In this moment time was moving in slow motion. It was like they were stuck in some sticky substance that would only allow them to move so far in a minute's time. Hermione wanted to shout. To let all her stress out and then maybe she could focus on the task at hand. Ron was laying on the cold ground, his arm barely attached to his shoulder. Splinching was such an unpleasant experience and Hermione felt horrible that she had caused this all to happen. It was her fault that Ron was in pain and it made her gut twist into knots.
Through her frantic mind Hermione was able to remember that she had packed a small vile of Essence of Dittany which she had just ordered Harry to retrieve from her bag. As soon as Harry shoved his arm up to his elbow to begin the search for the vile, Hermione knew she was happy with her bag. That little charm she had placed on her small beaded bag was working wonders. But once again time was moving in slow motion though she knew the blood seeping from Ron's wound was not slowing down for anything. Hermione had only just realized that Harry wouldn't find such a small thing by searching with his hand in the bag. But it seemed this same thought occurred to him when he withdrew his wand and summoned the vile to him.
Finally the Essence of Dittany was in her hands, practically the only thing she felt might save his life and his arm. With shaking hands Hermione pulled the stopper from the bottle and began to let small droplets fall down onto the fleshy wound. Hermione wanted to avoid looking at it. It was so grotesque, almost unbearable for her to glance at. Hermione knew that it was up to her to keep her wits together to help Ron survive. With each new drop his skin began to knit its way back together. For a moment Hermione thought his arm would go back to normal, but it was only due to hope that she thought this. Instead all the flesh came back and stopped the bleeding. But there was a deep scar running all over his shoulder. "How does it feel now Ron?" She asked, her voice laced with worry. Ron looked as if he was not with them anymore, his skin was so pale, his eyes closed. She mentally said the same lines over in her head again about Ron not dying.
Letting out a small breath to allow her body to relax a bit, she looked over at Harry. Tears swimming in her eyes as she felt incredibly guilty. She was the weak link, she had failed to get the guy off of her. It was her fault Ron was recovering on the ground from a narrow escape from death. "Harry I'm so sorry. When we apparated the guy that was following us had caught onto my shoulder. I couldn't shake him off. He saw Grimmauld place, saw where we would be going. I finally push him off me and changed directions so he couldn't come with us. It's my fault..." Hermione spoke rather fast. She usually did this when she felt bad for not doing something right.
Hermione leaned back and looked at Ron. Her heart squeezed at the sight of him. With her rash decision she had nearly cost Ron his life. Due to the fact that she wasn't as strong as the two Hermione couldn't shake the guy off soon enough. If it weren't for her weakness they would be sitting at Number 12 Grimmauld Place eating a nice dinner made by Kreacher instead of in a childhood memory of Hermione's.
