name;;
entymology;;
Delano, pronounced D(e)-la-no, is of Old French origin. The name possibly means "nighttime" or "nut tree."
Flint is of Old English origin, a traditional surname. The name means "stream," but it can also refer to the type of stone that produces a spark of fire when struck with steel.[/ul]

He has dark eyes that are squinty and shifty, always making him look untrustworthy. His hair, just as dark as his eyes, is thick and full, though it's misleading sometimes in the way it looks stringy. Although his teeth are slightly better than in his school days, Marcus still has a very prominent nose, and not in the good way. The nose is straight but large.[/ul]

habits;;
- Sneering - Apparently, he didn't lose the habit from his school days. It's almost like it's a stereotypical Slytherin thing; it speaks louder than words.
- Glancing over his Shoulder - Since the recovery of the Ministry of Magic and the fall of Voldemort, he's much more careful, especially considering his line of work.
- Spitting - It isn't very becoming, but he has a nasty habit of spitting, or "hockering a loogie," regardless of whether he's in public or not.

overall personality;;
here we are now with the falling sky,
mother;;
She and Marcus were alone from right before his fourteenth birthday onwards, but they got along well enough. The two understand one another and know where the boundaries are in the relationship. She's never been one to choose sides, but she's got the personality and knowledge of a dark witch. Only she knows where those missing portkeys are hidden, and she's not going to discuss that with anyone.[/ul]
father;;
Louis expected a lot from his only child. He expected Marcus to follow in his footsteps and go on to take part in the reforming group of Death Eaters. He expected absolute obedience. He wasn't a nice and loving father, not even at the best of times. His idea of a reward was not smacking Marcus upside the head or insulting the boy; his idea of love was a new broom or a brand new cloak.
In the end, Louis died in an ordinary way. He simply collapsed in the middle of the living room floor, where he lay until thirteen-year-old Marcus discovered the cold, stiff body. Louis died with a hard look on his face.[/ul]

history;;
Up until his eleventh birthday, Marcus had to deal with his mother's neglect and his father's constant punishments. Everything he did was wrong. He didn't eat correctly, he didn't sit correctly, he didn't dress himself correctly, and he didn't respond correctly. His father ruled the family with an ironfist. To escape, his mother fell into her vanity and Marcus fell into bullying. He bullied the house elves and the neighboring children--he even bullied the family cat and owl. When he received his Hogwarts acceptance letter, Marcus got a reward from his father, the first gift he thought may have come from the man's heart. He got brand new Slytherin robes, quite ahead of schedule, and dragonhide gloves, but he also got his own set of Quidditch equipment. Everything he took to Hogwarts that year was brand new.
At Hogwarts, Marcus made no friends before his sorting. The hat didn't consider another house, didn't even utter a single thought, before placing him in Slytherin. It was likely because Marcus had spent his time on the train scaring the other first years with fake horror stories about hazings. In his first year, he almost failed three of his classes, those being Transfiguration, Defense Against the Dark Arts, and Charms. For his lack of stunning grades, he received a severe punishment from his father, and his mother even slapped him. That sort of behavior continued through his third year.
In the summer before his fourth year at Hogwarts, Marcus lost his father, not that he cared much. He was happy to be rid of the evil man. He just didn't necessarily want to see his father in such a position on the living room floor, with such a mean look frozen on the face. Thora cried and mourned appropriately, but she was left with a hefty sum, more than enough to live comfortably for the rest of her life. Not only did she have the Flint vault at Gringotts, she had the Gamp money as well. Right after the funeral, she took Marcus out for celebratory tea. From that moment on, they had a silent understanding. She would do whatever she wanted, and he would do his best not to attract negative attention to overshadow wizarding world's perception of their family.
Marcus hung around with the bad crowd in school, often playing pranks on the other Quidditch teams and even on some of his own house members. He stood up for Draco whenever it benefitted him, as when he needed Malfoy for the Seeker's position, and he avoided being reprimanded by hiding behind his house. Due to his lack of focus on his studies, and the fact that he wasn't that booksmart to begin with, he failed his last year at Hogwarts and had to remain back, graduating one year later, in 1996.
He stayed under the radar for most of the war, though his mother was known to donate funds to the Dark Lord's cause. Working odd jobs here and there, he managed to impress the former owner of The Spiny Serpent enough to place a bid on the property. While the former owner fled the chaos that became Diagon Alley, and the darkness of Knockturn Alley, Marcus took joy in his new career.
By the year 2000, The Spiny Serpent became known as the place to go for questionable goods. It wasn't necessarily a place for the Dark Arts, but it certainly wasn't a place for someone that wasn't desperate. Marcus originally left his shop open to all, but he changed his mind when the likes of Harry Potter and Ron Weasley became Aurors. His shop went to taking appointments and identifying everyone before entry to the shop was granted.[/ul]
