you can sign up with any name you'd like, but once you decide on your character's name, please change your display name. yes, it can wait until you are approved or begin your claims, but it is best to get it done before you forget. also, make sure that your display name is in regular capitalization, with the first, middle, and last name; do not put punctuation in your display name unless it is a part of the character name. as for how many characters you can have, you can have as many as you'd like, but we ask they aren't all female. we prefer to keep the ratio of males to females even. if the balance shifts too much, there will be a ban placed on female or male characters accordingly.
`` applying
on the note of applying, please post your application within 5 days of registering. we ask that you mark any work in progress applications with [wip] or (wip) to keep things uniform. also, please fill out the application carefully and do not change the code. we know that the code can be a bit difficult to grasp, but the areas are clearly marked. we'd also like for people to use celebrities/models as play bys, not drawn characters or cartoon characters; we like real people. do not try to pass of a 40-year-old character as a 22-year-old bombshell. we will negotiate as needed, and if applying for a major canon character, please keep them to their respected actor/actress, minors may be negotiated.
`` graphics
we would love (and by love, i mean require) members to have a 130x200 or 150x200 avatar icon and a signature of their choice, as long as the banner does not exceed a width of 500 and a height of 200 pixels. if you can't make graphics, there is a graphics board, located in the ooc section, where you can request a banner or an avatar. if you can't get someone on here to do it, or you are too shy to even approach that subject, go to a site such as CAUTION. you have to join, but it's worth it.
`` activity [/color]
we will not be posting activity checks that often, but we would like for people to at least log in twice a week unless they post an absence. people who do not log in for two weeks will receive a warning message; those not logging in for three weeks will most likely have their characters deleted. your phrase is ' long live harry potter '. you may have as many characters as you like, as mentioned in the registration section, but if you choose to make more than one, try to make one boy for every girl character you have. make sure that you can handle every character you take on.
`` chatting
as you have probably noticed, there is a messenger and cell phone claim area. if you'd like live roleplay, go ahead and sign into the IC chat area under the character's screenname and have at it; copy (ctrl + c) and paste to a document if you want a record of it all. if you'd rather just use the forum, feel free. there are plenty of ways to utilize the information in a post.
`` roleplaying
we know everyone has a bad day every now and then, sometimes several days, but we do have a posting minimum of 250 words a post. the staff will be paying attention to those who consistently do not make the word minimum, and if we catch this, we will talk to you. we are open to beginners, intermediate, and advanced roleplayers, so try to keep on par with the minimum unless everyone involved in a thread agrees on a smaller word count. please note that there is a word counter located here
